This course focuses on improving knowledge of human trafficking, enhancing officers’ awareness and understanding to make them more effective in investigating crimes and dealing with offenders. The aim is to increase officers ability to protect vulnerable individuals coming to their notice in their daily roles from patrol to investigation of crime.
This unique course combines expert trafficking knowledge using investigative frameworks. Students will look at the laws and legislation specific to crimes of human trafficking and examine the nature of criminal investigations of this type. The course will look at the procedures adopted for dealing with victims and the accused of Human Trafficking crimes. The course will have a focus on Investigations with Special Needs and children as victims of human trafficking.
Aims and Objectives
The course aims to improve students understanding of Human Trafficking enabling them to recognise and respond appropriately.
At the end of the course the student/participant will be able to:
- Understand the background of human trafficking.
- Identify victims of human trafficking crimes.
- Identify the behaviours of the perpetrators of human trafficking crimes.
- Understand the procedures to investigate cases of human trafficking.
