DescriptionCarol Smythe LLB completed 30 years police service within Staffordshire Police. During that time, she spent three years delivering training to new recruits at Ryton and further spells within training in force. She was also the force Best Value Review Inspector and trained staff to use improvement tools and techniques including lean. She ran improvement teams within force and devised the force’s internal inspection programme. Since retiring from the force in 2009, she has worked at the Home Office on a strategy project to increase the number of special constables nationally, for the NPIA, project managing the training requirement for the 2012 Olympics, and for HMIC conducting thematic and PEEL Inspections. She has also completed many external review and improvement projects for other organisations including the Yorkshire and Humber Prison Service and several banks. Since retiring she has delivered training programmes including the Mainstreaming Cyber Crime Training Programme for the College of Policing and more recently IT implementation training for a Midlands Police Force. Academically, her qualifications include a degree in law and Post Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management.
