Course Abstract
This five day course will teach students about the Application of International Standards for Ethical Behaviour and Police Law.
Students will learn the importance of maintaining the spirit of Ethical Behaviour in all remits and lines of their roles and the importance of offering high standards and a professional service to all residents, citizens and visitors to the country. The course will study communication and how to use this as a tool to gain information and intelligence, in an expert and effective manner, from society to assist the policing process
Aims and Objectives
Students will develop and understanding of the application of International Standards for Ethical Behaviour and Police Law
At the end of the course the student/participant will be able to:
- Understand the value of ethics in police work
- Appreciate how you interact with the public
- Understand the cultural dimensions of police duty and relate this to your own role in the police service
- Understand the role and remits of staff under your authority
- Be able to implement National Law and appropriate behaviour for policing
- Be able to implement best practices that will lead to conviction verdicts
- Only use your authority for lawful purposes
- Act within Human Rights Law and act against the use of torture or other inhumane practices

Introduction to Human Rights
The role of Police
Managing Police Operations Ethically
Dealing with Police mal-practice
