With more than 18 years’ experience in law enforcement, including roles in response, community policing, counter terrorism and national security, Dean has vast operational experience in addition to holding a range of academic and professional certifications in counter terrorism.  As well as achieving a first-class BSc (Hons) in Policing, Dean is a qualified police trainer, having completed both the Police Training Roles Learning and Development Programme (PTRLDP) and the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.

As a proactive driver of continuous improvement; Dean devised and delivered a five-day induction training course to consecutive cohorts of counter terrorism officers working at a major airport.  Recognised as a counter terrorism subject matter expert, he was invited to deliver Module 1 of Aviation Security Manager Course, ‘The Threat to Aviation’, to multiple commercial partners.  Moreover, Dean devised and delivered counter terrorism awareness training to more than 300 airport security staff over a three-year period, directly contributing to multiple disruptions of international terrorist actors and criminal networks.  Having built strong working relationships with high-level contacts in aviation, Dean was invited to deliver a bespoke CT Awareness presentation to C-level executives of a major airline, and ongoing security awareness training to its flight crews.

Dean was recognised as a proactive, high performing and impactful officer.  A skilled problem-solver, Dean was awarded a chief constable’s commendation for innovation.

In a fledgling writing career, Dean has so far contributed a case study to the Blackstone’s Handbook for Policing Students, and an article to a national police publication.
