Career Achievements, Expertise, Awards and Qualifications

A former Detective Superintendent and Counter Terrorism lead Investigating Officer, who retired in 2019 after 30 years police service as a senior leader in National Counter Terrorism Policing, Scotland Yard, London. 

Prior to retiring, Mark was the senior operational policing lead, working with National Security partners to design and future proof the United Kingdom’s Counter Terrorism capabilities and response plans to the ever-changing threat picture posed by terrorists and hostile state nations. Working with United Kingdom Intelligence Community, Ministry of Defence and law enforcement agencies, his role was to identify the necessary change initiatives required to design a joint operating model.  Previously Head of Investigations at West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit, he worked in partnership with national and international intelligence and law enforcement agencies to disrupt and mitigate terrorist threat. He is an experienced police commander, confident in and managing threat, harm and risk, dealing with crisis and making informed critical decisions in ever changing fast paced environments. He is an experienced and qualified CT, Kidnap & Extorsion, Murder and Complex Crime Senior Investigating Officer. Mark is also a qualified Gold CBRN and a Tactical Firearms Commander.

Mark is an experienced international mentor and trainer who specialises in Counter Terrorism, Crisis Management & Senior Leadership training to international law enforcement and intelligence agencies. He has also lectured at Staffordshire University’s Policing and Criminal Investigation Degrees and provides crisis management training and consultancy to the private sector.


He is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, Quantico, USA.
