Rod policed London in a variety of roles, served as Deputy Assistant Commissioner Territorial Policing (over 30,000 police officers and staff) and Director of Leadership and Learning. Rod led in London on Youth Crime, Neighbourhood Policing, Diversity, Stop and Search, Patrol and was the National Police lead on Mental Health & Disability, Crime Prevention, Safer Schools Partnerships, and Every Child Matters. Part of the Gold Command Team for the terrorist crimes in 2005 and Gold Commander post bombings in London and Glasgow Airport, and leading several firearms and complex high risk operations including counter terror. Delivered neighbourhood policing in London; leading at Operational Command and Chief Officer level.
On behalf of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales Rod chaired the Youth United Network. He secured funding and established a charity to support the network, recruited a delivery team, designed and delivered a £15 million programme, involving 11 Charities and 14 partnerships, created over 10,000 new opportunities for young people in some of the most deprived areas of England working within budgets and timelines.

Parm has over 30 years of experience in the London Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). As a Chief Superintendent she led in frontline policing, national counter terrorism teams, Fraud, Cyber investigations with a focus on leadership development and professional standards(complaints). She developed responses to harmful practices for MPS City of London Police and British Transport Police implementing them in the national picture this included Domestic Abuse, Honour Based Abuse, Female Genital Mutilation and Forced Marriages.
Parm is a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and held both detective and uniform roles, working within London and for National organizations. Parm has been trained as a Firearms Commander and Public Order managing marches and demonstrations. She managed public inquiries and serious case reviews including historical corruption reviews to restore public confidence in Policing.
Parm is a mentor involved in recruitment and retention to improve the diversity of the police. She has delivered training to international students who have been on tours to the UK as well as in their home countries. Her charity work includes working as an Executive member of Women’s Interfaith Network charity (WIN) and is and ambassador for ‘SHARAN’ a Domestic Violence project.
Bob Broadhurst OBE QPM PGDip

Bob is the professional lead for policing major incidents, public order sporting and ceremonial events. Bob has extensive success and experience as the Chief Officer leading in these areas for the Metropolitan Police Service and particularly as the Gold Commander for the 2012 Olympics, several Royal Events and a number of incidents of major disorder . Bob served for 36 years in the Metropolitan Police, London, from 1977 to 2013.
Bob has engaged in a wide range of London Policing College activities. He became the head of Public Order and Operational Response, responsible for all aspects of policy, doctrine and training. In this role he had command of the public order branch, the dog section, mounted section, Air Support, marine section and CBRN, as well as all aspects of emergency preparedness and business continuity. Bob is a fellow of the Institute of Civil Protection and Emergency Management has a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Criminology (Fitzwilliam College Cambridge) and a first degree in Geography. He lectures for the Emergency Planning College, is an Associates with the College of Policing and delivers on the Indian Police Service Mid-Career Programme on mega event policing. One of the most experienced public order commanders in the UK, Bob was Gold for such iconic events as Trooping the Colour, Notting Hill Carnival, Tour de France, Papal visit, G20 and two Royal weddings. Frances Plowman
Business and Senior Administration Officer
Frances has extensive experience in administration in the primary education sector. In her previous roles she has been responsible for budgeting, personnel management, premises, health, and safety. In her last position she was responsible for setting up the administration and business functions for a brand-new primary school.
Frances since joining the London Policing College has started starting by setting up and streamlining the administration processes which will support the company as we grow. Frances has a key role within the college and works closely with the directors and CEO. Primarily, her role is day-to-day management of the strategic direction of the London Policing College but will have opportunities to work with the team on a variety of different projects in the UK and overseas.

Daisy has a strong background in administration, gaining invaluable experience in managing and optimising various aspects of operations. From coordinating schedules and overseeing projects to ensuring smooth communication. With a keen eye for detail and excellent organisational skills, Daisy is looking forward to some new challenges within LPC and is ready to make a positive impact. Initially, she will be looking to help streamline some administration processes and will help to improve communication across the board.
In her personal life, she is a dedicated Mum to 2 young boys which has taught her valuable time management and multi-tasking skills which we are sure she will be putting to use in the coming months with us.

Simon Ovens DLL MSc
Senior Lecturer
A former Chief Superintendent with 37 year’s of service in the Metropolitan Police, he held the role of Borough Commander at Merton, Westminster and Harrow, where he was responsible for a wide range of operational, crime, public order and ceremonial work – including, of particular note, his extensive experience in dealing with Royal events. He has served as head of all detention facilities across London and was head of Traffic and Transport during the last 4 years of service.
He has been involved in international training of senior officers at the Indian Police Staff College and is highly experienced in strategic organisational management and risk management.
In 2017 he was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London and since February 2018 has been HM The King’s representative DL for the London Borough of Harrow. He holds a B.S.c (Hons) and M.S.c degrees and is a fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He has also been decorated twice by The Royal Humane Society for gallantry in saving life and commended three times for courage and leadership.

Leigh a former Detective Chief Inspector with 30 years experience with the Metropolitan Police Service and a secondment to the National Crime Agency. Leigh has experience in leading complex investigations, ensuring safeguarding of the most vulnerable members of our community and managing large teams.
Much of Leigh’s service was in busy South London boroughs such as Lambeth, Croydon & Southwark where she was in front line policing, child protection, community safety & serious sexual offences teams. Leigh was very much victim focussed and also trained as a family liaison officer. She is experienced in dealing with sensitive intelligence and covert policing.
Leigh has extensive knowledge of international policing tools and investigations and her last post in policing was in the newly created Joint international crime centre where she was the head of the Policing. Partnership, Engagement Unit, whose role was to advise and train the 43 police forces on the use of international policing tools.
Sutinderjit Mahil MSc

Sutinderjit has over 31 years Police experience in the Metropolitan Police Service. His experience includes Emergency Response Teams, Public Order Commander leading high-profile incidents, Surveillance operations, crime reduction.
Sutinderjit has covert policing experience which includes illicit substances, handling, security infiltration, and Terrorism. He has received significant recognition with over 22 commendations.
As Chair of a Metropolitan Police Service Staff Association he was instrumental in delivering and formalising mentoring, coaching, community engagement, outreach programs. (recognised and adopted as good practice by other UK Police Services).
He is actively involved in championing Engagement with The Indian High Commission and Police Services of India, thereby enhancing the engagement and development of organisations abroad.
As an Associate at HMICFRS involved in the Inspection of Force Custody suites and being part of the PEEL inspection Team.
He also has recent experience of Lecturing in Policing to undergraduate students.
He holds undergraduate degrees and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice (Brunel London University) and is a Chartered Manager
Dr Chris Allen
Senior Lecturer
Chris Allen is a researcher, lecturer, consultant and commentator specialising in organised crime and how it operates. He has significant experience in lecturing on UK and international policing structures, as well as cybercrime, drug trafficking, human trafficking and firearms trafficking, among other subjects. He is currently Senior Police Practice Tutor at Buckinghamshire New University (BNU).
Chris is also the creator of the U BATTLE toolkit, an investigative strategy development tool that began under City of London Police in 2018 and since then has gained national and international recognition. U BATTLE uses the adapted versions of traditional business analysis techniques to improve the development of investigative strategies to dismantle organised crime groups.
Previously, he has worked as an Associate lecturer delivering modules on organised crime, terrorism and policing for London Metropolitan, Kingston, Liverpool John Moores Universities as well as the University of Western England. An experienced researcher and analyst he has been awarded his PhD at Liverpool John Moores University- subject to submitting amendments- examining the use of business analysis techniques in enhancing investigative strategy development against OCGs.
Kyle Hardcastle MSc
Senior Lecturer and Consultant
Kyle has a strong passion and proven aptitude for policing, education, project management, and innovation. Employed by the Metropolitan Police for 15 years Kyle was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2019. Kyle has extensive experience of policing having performed several roles, including neighbourhood policing, emergency response and crime investigation.
Kyle has ten years' experience in counter terrorism, attaining considerable operational knowledge and academic qualifications. Responsibilities held include; threat horizon scanning, intelligence gathering, ministerial liaison, academic research and analysis, as well as threat and risk assessments. Kyle has a strong passion for digital technology and education, resulting in the foundation and leadership of the Metropolitan Police’s first Virtual Reality Training Team - designing, developing, implementing, and testing, immersive police training.
These roles, including several years of regular lecturing on behalf of the International Police Association, have led to the development of excellent communications skills – including regular international public speaking, provision of subject matter expertise, alongside the production of written reports and research.
Kyle leads for us on the use of new technologies and is studying for his PhD.
Jason Fitzpatrick

With 30 years of service covering three UK police forces, Jason's extensive operational experience started in the City of London Police where he worked on high complex and high value fraud investigations including a secondment to the Serious Fraud Office. Moving to the Metropolitan Police Service and being promoted to Detective Sergeant saw him undertake a variety of investigative roles within the CID, Burglary and Robbery Squads and in many covert operations, followed by a move into specialist crime working Homicide investigations as a specialist interviewer.
He spent three years in Merseyside Police within CID and Criminal Justice before returning to the MPS where he was involved in frontline policing. Returning to CID saw him promoted to Detective Inspector before being selected by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Stabilisation Unit (SU) to be deployed to Libya as an criminal investigation advisor to the Libyan Police Service. His involvement in the SU has resulted in training in Germany and the Netherlands.
On returning to London Jason went on to specialise in Public Protection and commanded a Domestic Abuse Unit before moving on to lead a team managing high risk sex offenders and becoming a Chair of Multi Agency Public Protection Authority (MAPPA) involved in the risk management of some of the most dangerous criminals in London. He made the move back into Specialist Crime and Homicide investigations where he qualified as a PIP3 Senior Investigation Officer and has led many successful murder investigations.
Sunil Galoria LLb

25 years’ experience within the analytical world of intelligence, served with the Metropolitan Police Service, both as a practitioner and senior leader / head of portfolio on Borough. Sunil’s dedication and passion has been towards Front Line Policing, but has worked across a vast number of business groups. Sunil has a proven partnership record and has been the police lead and Chair for the successful Borough ‘Joint Analytical Group’, consisting of partners across health, education and other strands from the voluntary and non-voluntary sectors, problem solving together through collaboration. Sunil has excellent knowledge of the National Intelligence Model and has successfully completed the National Intelligence Analysts and Strategic Analysts Training. Further, he has vast experience in its practical application and have driven the delivery of both the tactical and strategic assessments, helping to ensure control strategy objectives are met through significantly influencing the decision-making process. Sunil’s interests include education and, as such has served as a community governor at a local London secondary school where they collectively helped to maintain high standards, a parent’s year representative at my daughter’s school, given guest lectures, trained up many new staff and set up mentoring / guidance in my capacity as secretary of the Metropolitan Police Hindu Association. Sunil has worked on accreditation projects, collaborating with other Forces to share good practice and drive the vision for upskilling (myself achieving accreditation). Sunil has experience of working with senior key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes, the Policing Minister in Mothers Against Gangs and the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service in my role on the Staff Association executive committee in helping to secure resource. Sunil has also worked as an organisational fairness at work advisor and thus has vast experience in conflict resolution.
Simon Foy QPM PGDip LLb Senior Lecturer and Consultant
Simon has a wealth of experience policing London for over 35 years in all aspects of investigation, frontline policing and leading major crime enquiries. His last role with the Metropolitan Police Service was as the Chief Officer lead for Homicide and Serious Sexual Assaults.
He has taken that experience working on PIP (professionalizing Investigations Programme) Level 4 development, on senior leadership programme involving Police Scotland and the FBI and working with the College of Policing to the next level and is now training others. A former senior police officer in the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), London, a chief officer, ACPO (now NPCC) rank, for 9 years. Involved in a several high-profile operations and events and supporting the delivery of various national projects. Lead for Homicide and Serious Sexual Assaults with considerable experience in criminal investigation.
Simon is now delivering strategic leadership training to senior police officers in the UK, as well as working with different levels across the justice sector nationally and internationally.
He represented the Police Research Forum (PERF) – a major city police chief’s organization based in Washington DC – in the design and delivery (between November 2014 and March 2015) of the ‘Leadership for Outcomes’ Course within Police Scotland – a cross public sector leadership development course designed around collaborative working
Narinder Sidhu
Associate Specialist Lecturer
Narinder has a wealth of experience policing diverse communities for over 30 years in Thames Valley Police and has a demonstrated history of operational policing with considerable knowledge of the criminal justice system.
Narinder reads and speaks fluent Punjabi and has the ability to engage with communities giving them the trust and confidence to engage with professionals.
Narinder was a specialist domestic abuse officer within the Public Protection Unit where she investigated cases of murder, attempt murder, rape and sexual assaults. She was instrumental in pioneering the Forces response to harmful practices in particular honour based abuse and female genital mutilation. Narinder has an outstanding record of inspiring confidence and engaging in diverse settings to increase the understanding, reporting, investigation of hate crimes, domestic abuse and honour based abuse. Her work was recognised as being best practise and was shared with other UK Police Services.
In 2021 Narinder was recognised nationally and locally for being an inspirational officer who carved the path, raising cultural awareness and influencing force policies and procedures specifically around crimes affecting the most vulnerable. She was awarded the Inspirational Women’s Award.
Narinder has been delivering the BSc (Hons) Professional Policing degree to the first year students at UWL. She has been instrumental in designing and delivering aspects of the course which has enabled her to make reference to her extensive knowledge of operational and specialist policing roles. She is a Specialist Lecturer with the London Policing College, National Trainer with SafeLives
Dr Eddie Otoyo

Eddie has over the last twenty years worked in the public sector, he has been a serving police officer with the London Metropolitan Police Service. He has extensive experience in frontline policing and community policing.
Moving into various community safety departments in London local authorities he held various roles including lead in setting up enforcement processes and policies, staff training, applying street scene legislation, engaging with the community, and leading and managing several large projects.
His most recent academic research was in the area of street based interaction between young people and the police (Stop & Search). He is an Accredited lecture at UWL – MSc Policing and various BSc courses.

Roger retired from the Metropolitan Police Service having successfully completed a thirty-four-year career in 2012. He has a unique background in operational command having been pivotal in all major events in London for over 14 years. Accustomed to working at executive and tactical levels, he is well practiced in strategic risk management, managing complex threats to people, property, places and reputation; achieving business continuity and managing specialist teams with national and international responsibilities. He developed command centre processes and training programmes to prepare individuals and teams to command major events, including the 2012 London Olympics. He designed and successfully delivered leadership, incident management training and exercises to a variety of audiences in the UK and abroad. His professional and personal commitment was recognised by Her Majesty in 2007 when he was awarded the Queens Police Medal for distinguished Service.
Roger is now working as an Advisor, Trainer or Consultant and his portfolio includes; Associate Lecturer, Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College; Associate Tutor, College of Policing; Visiting Lecturer at several Universities; Editorial Panel Member for Crisis Response Journal; and a number of risk, crisis management and security projects with organisations. He also worked as an Advisor as part of security planning for 2022 FIFA World Cup for 18 months.
Roger is a Fellow of the Institute of Civil Protection & Emergency Management (FICPEM), Fellow of the Security Institute (FSyI), Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI) and Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management (FInstLM). Mindy Mahil

Mindy spent 20 years as a detective working in local CID, Counter Terrorism and Public Protection Unit. He investigated and managed investigations including attempt murder, rape, serious theft related cases.
Within the Public Protection Unit Mindy, managed serious domestic violence cases including cases of honour- based violence and abuse. He rescued/repatriated victim of honour- based abuse from Asia, Africa and The Middle East.
He is an expert in HBA/HBV and Forced marriage providing tactical advice to Police Forces and partner agencies and expert Court reports. The London Policing college values the skills of Mindy Mahil

Polly Hararr MSc
Associate Lecturer and Consultant Lead for VAWG NGO
Polly Harrar is a subject matter expert and founder of The Sharan Project, a registered charity (England and Wales) supporting South Asian Women in the UK who have been affected by abuse or persecution, to include forced marriage, honour abuse, dowry violence, domestic abuse, disownment and cultural conflict.
As a strategic leader, she is the joint Chair of the London Harmful Practices Group led by the Metropolitan Police, member of the Home Office National Oversight Group, the Forced Marriage Partnership Board within the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Home Office and an advisory member for the Women’s Interfaith Network.
She is a recognised Expert Witness on Forced Marriage and Honour Based Abuse and has an extensive understanding of the wide range of harmful practices faced by BAME women and children and can regularly be heard speaking on these matters at a national and local level and through mainstream media.
Her track record in delivering training is reflected in her engagement with various UK Police Forces, CPS, Magistrates Association, Judicial College, Home Office, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Educational Institutes and front-line professionals.
Previous appointments include the National Domestic Abuse Helpline, The Stroke Association, Kaleidoscope Trust, London Development Agency and the former Commission for Racial Equality. As a multi award winning campaigner, she has been recognised by Amnesty International, 10 Downing Street and the Independent on Sunday’s Happy List amongst others.
John Donovan MSt
Associate Senior Lecturer
John served 31 years as Police Officer, 18 years at Detective Inspector and Chief Inspector rank. He had continuous service with the Metropolitan Police but this included 15 years of secondments to the National Criminal Intelligence Service, The National Domestic Extremism Team, the Association of Chief Police Terrorism Committee (ACPO TAM) and HM Customs and Excise.
He held substantive roles in intelligence gathering for both CT and serious crime, working at national and regional levels including national co-ordination of multiple investigations into domestic terrorism.
He was tasked with considerable work on UK Investigatory Powers legislation and exercised editorial control of policies for conducting covert and technical surveillance. He designed and delivered training on the use of special investigatory techniques UK wide. John lead a Joint Investigatory Team co-ordinated by Europol against and active domestic terrorist conspiracy across 6 EU nations and managed the intelligence flow between the JIT and the FBI.
He was sponsored by ACPO TAM in 2012 to complete a Masters in Applied Criminology and Police Leadership at Cambridge University, the final thesis of which was condensed into an academic journal published in the European Journal of Criminology. He lead a syndicate of senior Indian Police Officers at the Indian Police Service staff college in Hyderabad at the request of Cambridge University, delivering human rights and legitimacy training.
Graham McCullum BEd

Graham served for just under 30 years with Police Scotland, retiring as Head of the UK Police National Search Centre, College of Policing. Responsible for the planning, management and delivery of the UK Counter Terrorist search portfolio with sole responsibility for all CT Search courses delivered to Home/Non-Home Office Police services, partner Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) and other investigatory agencies.
His experience includes Counter Terrorism, CBRN and Public Order Commander, Operational and Specialist Response Policing and Strategic project lead with Scottish Government.
Graham has extensive success and experience in International Training Delivery to Blue Light agencies including Fire & Rescue, Coastguard, Military, Police, International LEA and Emergency Planning. Skilled in Coaching, Mentoring, Training Needs Analysis, Training Design, Leadership Training and Emergency Management in several countries including Germany, Kenya, Qatar, UAE, USA and Saint Helena.
Graham has a Degree in Teaching (University of Edinburgh), Advanced Diploma in Police Service Leadership and Management (Stirling University) and a Certificate in Training, Learning & Assessment (Edinburgh Napier University).
He is an Associate Lecture delivering training to students across London on Policing under the Policing Education Qualification Framework (PEQF) at Anglia Ruskin University, University of East London, University of West London and Brunel University, London. He is also a PEQF Assessor with Metropolitan Police at Babcock International Group and with University of South Wales.
Richard list
Associate Specialist Lecturer
Richard recently retired from Thames Valley Police having spent many years as the Detective Chief Superintendent leading the Forces ‘Intelligence and Specialist Operations’ department. He has extensive experience in covert policing and led over one hundred complex operations against organised crime and County Drugs Lines. He was an SIO, PIP4 and Authorising Officer.
He was responsible for designing and implementing the Forces response to organised crime, economic and cybercrime. Richard was the Gold Commander for Operation Hornet one of the UKs largest ever fraud investigations. He also introduced the concept of behavioural economics into TVP developing an innovative collaboration with the global marketing giant Ogilvy and its high-profile Vice President, Rory Sutherland.
Richard spent a considerable period as a temporary Assistant Chief Constable for Crime and Criminal Justice and has experience of many areas of policing including community policing, various detective roles and strategic planning. He was an accredited Gold Commander for firearms, public order, multi-agency working and CBRN.
Dan Tiller MSc
Associate Lecturer
Dan’s policing career spans 30 years’ with the Metropolitan Police Service reaching the rank of Inspector, including response, Public Order and Surveillance before moving to Specialist Firearms SO19 where he spent 22 years. He ran and participated in hundreds of overt and covert Firearms Operations and as a qualified Instructor taught and managed Armed Response Vehicle (ARV), Counter Terrorist Firearms Officer (CTSFO), and Rifle Courses and was a Command Training Director. He designed/planned National CT Exercises leading up to the 2012 Olympics, designing the Firearms Response/Resilience Plan.
Dan managed security for high profile visits, including President Obama and Pope Benedict, and led many high-profile CT Operations. A qualified Post Incident Manager (PIM) he dealt with complicated police shootings. He received 9 x commendations for bravery, leadership and professionalism and led joint training courses in Israel, Singapore, Cyprus, Austria and Germany. He designed the national CTSFO training programme, then as national specialist training lead, providing Tier 1 police armed units with national skills parity.
Dan specialises in advising on police firearms issues, tactical planning, risk management, training, research and qualified Prince2 project manager. Current work includes consultancy work with US based range building company, a range designer advising on training infrastructure, strategic/tactical advisor in the British Virgin Islands, managing a recruiting process & security consultancy and a government project preparing staff for overseas deployment.

Dr John Buckley is an internationally recognised trainer and consultant, working with public and private sector clients. He has authored seven books relating to law enforcement, and numerous research papers, policies, and other articles. He has extensive research experience. With nearly 42 years continual professional experience, including 28 years as a police officer in Northern Ireland. Abdul Moqim Abdulrahimzai Lecturer
Abdul Moqim Abdulrahimzai served as Chief of Staff at the office of the National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. He was also a member of the National Security Council, Afghanistan’s highest forum for discussion, implementation and follow-up of national security and foreign policy priorities. His roles include Director-General of Secretariat of the Office of National Security Council, Plan and Operations, and Chief of Staff for Deputy-Ministry of Security Affairs, and Director of Foreign Relations for the Afghan Ministry of Interior Affairs. In these different capacities, he had the responsibility of providing strategic and tactical security advice and recommendation on security operations including law enforcement operations, institutional development, aid and donor coordination, and better implementation of Ministry’s reform priorities.
He has a bachelor's and has pursued Graduate Studies in Royal College of Defense Studies in the United Kingdom, andparticipated in advanced programs in leadership development, strategy and policy design and implementation, diplomacy, intelligence, and counter terrorism in institutions such as the National Defense University in Washington D.C., University of Leicester, and Harvard University. He closely follows International Security Affairs and Regional Cooperation in Central and South Asia and the Middle East.
Jeremy Adams

Jeremy is a highly commended, motivated and respected Subject Matter Expert in Policing, Community Safety, Community Development and Diversity with over 35 years’ professional and voluntary experience. As a diversity champion and community development practitioner he has vast experience of working in several diverse communities and environments.
Jeremy has designed and delivered bespoke training packages for a wide range of statutory and non-statutory organisations. He played a significant role in the major restructuring of Northern Ireland policing, one of the largest transformations in European policing. He carried out significant policy work and was the author of several police service policies, procedures and directives. He has delivered bespoke training and mentoring to a variety of police officers, staff and partner agencies on a wide range of subject including leadership, management and community cohesion and engagement.
He has worked within the statutory, non-statutory and voluntary sectors during his 30 years of police service . He has been involved with the Special Olympics movement for over 25 years and was the European Coordinator on the International Executive Council of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. He was the founder of the multi award winning Unite against Hate campaign. He has received various commendations, recommendations and awards for his policing and community service.
Dr Craig McCann

Dr Craig McCann is a specialist adviser and researcher, providing consultative services for domestic clients and international development programmes focusing on police reform and counter terrorism strategy & delivery. He writes, advises, lectures, and provides commentary on the U.K. Prevent strategy, de-radicalisation / disengagement programme, online approaches to counter terrorism and responses to right wing extremism.
Formerly a Detective Chief Inspector in the Metropolitan Police Service he worked in several roles from neighbourhood policing to criminal investigations. Since 2010 he worked on counter terrorism operationally and strategically in delivery of the Prevent Strategy, leading a range of departments including the Channel intervention programme for East-London, the Muslim Contact Unit, and the Extremist Disruption Team. As the national head of Strategy & Policy for Prevent policing, he led strategy for Prevent Case Management and worked with Government on the statutory duty under the Counter Terrorism & Security Act 2015.
His PhD studied the application of Prevent to right wing extremism. His published work includes “The Prevent Strategy and Right-Wing Extremism: A Case Study of the English Defence League".
Dr Victor Olisa QPM

Currently working as a Visiting Fellow at the Mannheim Centre, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) carrying research into the management pressures on senior police officers in the UK. I gained my PhD at LSE in 2005, researching the Culture of Police Management. I worked in three police forces over a 35-year career, finishing as a Chief Superintendent in the Metropolitan Police Service. During my career I worked in uniform and plain clothes in Surrey Police, before transferring to the City of London Police where I worked as a uniform Inspector and a Detective Inspector in the Fraud Squad leading a team investigating high value complex fraud on large national and international financial institutions. I worked for three years in the Home Office, leading the work on stop and search, but also working on other matters concerning Race in the Criminal Justice System. During this secondment I wrote speeches for the Attorney General and the Minister of State at the Home Office.
I transferred to the Metropolitan Police Service where I led the community engagement work on a borough; led the work on stop and search; was Borough Commander at two boroughs, one of which was after the riots in 2011. I headed the Diversity Unit and led the Inclusion and Diversity work in the MPS before retiring in 2017. I worked with Criminal Justice professionals in Denmark, France, Sweden, Germany, Sao Paolo, USA, Abu Dhabi and lectured at Universities in the UK and USA.
Neil James

With over 40 years policing experience, Neil James is a former Detective Chief Superintendent, Head of Crime in Nottinghamshire Police holding responsibility for Homicide, Serious & Organised Crime, Scientific Support and Public Protection.
As a member of the ACPO Homicide Working Group he led nationally for responding to deaths in military and prison establishments and chaired the Professional Development Committee. He was also engaged in de-briefing several high profile investigations.
Previously he served in West Midlands Police and as a Senior Investigating Officer at the nationally accredited standards of Professionalising Investigations Programme (PIP) Level 3, led a number of high profile and sensitive enquiries including homicides, kidnap/extortion and counter terrorism.
On behalf of the National Police Chiefs Council & College of Policing, Neil designed and delivered the PIP Level 4 training programme aimed at chief officers and senior detectives, focusing on the strategic management of high profile, complex major enquiries. He introduced a structured Continuous Professional Development regime focusing on challenging, contemporary policing issues.
Neil has extensive experience in major crime reviews including from an international dimension. Most recently he has reviewed a live, albeit historic, politically sensitive investigation and furthermore conducted an analysis of historic bombings, shootings and murders. He has conducted peer reviews on behalf of the College of Policing and led force inspections for Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary.
Neil has vast and recent experience within National Counter Terrorism Policing including the training roll out of a national intelligence system, de-briefing operations and broader CT organisational developments.
Dr Martin Bagshaw

Martin completed his 30 year career as a Chief Superintendent. A qualified programme manager he has significant experience delivering police capability projects, including the UKs National Community Policing Implementation Programme and was the International Operational Delivery Manager at the College of Policing International Academy.
Following his police career he worked as an International Police Reform Consultant specialising in Community Policing implementation, Deputy Team Leader of the EU sponsored “Supporting the Fight Against Organised Crime in Georgia Project” and Senior Police Advisor to the Ethiopian Federal Police.
Martin has degree level qualifications in Psychology, Criminology and Human Resources Management and his PhD researched Community Policing Approaches in international contexts. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Chartered Manager.
Dr Andy Bain

Dr. Bain is an international researcher and academic. His professional background includes three years with the National Probation Service (England & Wales) and eight years running a successful Criminal Justice Consultancy group. Andy began his academic career with the University of Portsmouth, UK, where he held the position of Course Leader in Criminology with Psychology. Andy is now based in the United States, and currently holds the position of Associate Professor of Criminal Justice Studies at the University of Mount Union, Ohio. He is a member of the executive board of the National Gang Crime Research Centre, and member of the National Board for the National Canadian Gang Research Association. His academic qualifications include a BSc. Sociology & Psychology (Joint Hons); PGDip Psychology; MSc. Criminal Justice; and a Ph.D in Criminal Justice (examining offender behaviour).
Whilst varied, his research is cantered upon public safety. He has worked with policing and corrections agencies, both in the UK and internationally, which has included acting as an independent expert for the United States Navy. Through his work he has authored numerous reports for local and national policing and corrections agencies. He has written, edited, and contributed to publications concerned with police use of technology; policing local communities; gangs and gang membership; and risk and management. In addition, Andy has published in a number of leading international journals. He is research active with interests in offenders and their behaviour; gangs and gang membership; policing and public communication; education in criminal justice; and the social psychology of offending and risk-taking behaviour.

Mike retired as a police police Superintendent in 2017 and has since been engaged in design and delivery of senior leadership, business management and command skills training throughout the UK and worldwide. As a leadership consultant and trainer, Mike specialises in business development & change, human rights, ethical decision making, civil police legitimacy, organisational justice, valuing difference, advanced communication skills as well as personality and behavioural psychometrics. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He has extensive strategic and tactical experience in many specialist police disciplines including Multi Agency Gold Incident Command, CBRN (Chemical Biological, Radiological & Nuclear), firearms and public order / public safety command. An experienced trainer in civil emergencies he worked across all UK emergency services and other Civil Contingencies Act Category 1&2 Responders to improve inter-agency operability. Mike’s international portfolio extends worldwide including North America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands. A Hostage Negotiator with extensive field experience, and a keen interest in advanced communication skills, Mike served many years as a member of the Directing Staff for the UK National Negotiators’ Course, training negotiators for UK police forces, special forces, FBI and the UN, as well as assisting the Metropolitan Police Hostage & Crisis Negotiation Unit and the Scottish Police College with the development of ground breaking techniques for counter-terrorism negotiation. Mike is an accomplished project and programme manager and is highly experienced in leading and consulting on business management and change in the criminal justice sector. Mike is a serving Justice of the Peace on the Cambridgeshire & North Essex Benches.

Pete is an international Protective Security Consultant and former UK Specialist Police Commander. He held command accreditations in Specialist Firearms Command, Public Order, CBRN & JESIP and was Head of Department, responsible for the Protection of Royalty & Diplomatic VIPs and Protected Sites.
A Counter Terrorism Security Coordinator he is an associate with the College of Policing he has international Law Enforcement and Private Sector command and consultancy experience in incident command, event management, developing complex concepts of operations and all aspects of crowded place planning. An international instructor with the National Centre for Spectator Sport Safety & Security (NCS4), through the development of the International Sports Safety & Security Training Programme with Interpol Project Stadia. He has delivered training to commanders from 60 Countries.
Pete coordinated the 2022 Interpol project to produce a Law Enforcement Guide for managing COVID-19 risk at major crowded space events. he designed and delivered an international Counter Terrorism and Protective Security Awareness course for the Event Sector. He is active in designing and delivering education, presentations and CPD at a range of international events & conferences.

Steve had 30 years of policing experience in the Metropolitan Police Service, during which he specialised in the multi-agency management of major incidents and as a result Steve spent the last 5 years of his police service seconded to the National Centre for Policing Excellence as Head of the Disaster Management Team.
An advisor to the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Steve was responsible for delivery of time critical advice, support and guidance and was an advisor to the Home Office and Interpol regarding Major Incidents, Mass Fatalities and the Humanitarian Aspects of Disaster.
Steve spent 5 years with the Cabinet Office Emergency Planning College as a Lecturer and Assessor specialising in incident management, retail environments, counter terrorism and safety at Sports Grounds and Events and was a Safety Officer for the London 2012 Olympics. Commended numerous times, including a Metropolitan Police Commissioners Commendation for his response to the London Bombings in 2005.
Steve has responded to incidents in the UK, North Africa, Namibia, France, Russia and delivered Strategic, Tactical and Operational level advice, training and exercises in the UK, UAE, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan and Somaliland.

Dr Stratis Andreas Efthymiou Academic lead
Dr Stratis Andrea Efthymiou specializes in applying social research in politics, policy, and practice. His interdisciplinary research focuses on policy design, security sector reform, and gender.
Stratis is currently a Professor at the German Institute of Management and Administration—University of Law and an expert consultant at Berghof Foundation (Berlin) and Ecroys (London). In his last role as a Senior Lecturer in Applied Social Sciences, he led the Professional Doctorate in Policing, Security and Community Safety at London Metropolitan University. He redesigned the programme, including designing five new Prof Doc modules, such as ‘Knowledge-Based Policing’ and ‘Security and Policy in a Global Context’. Previously, he was an advisor to the Cyprus Minister of Defense, where he introduced several educational programmes for the military. Moreover, he possesses direct international security and peacebuilding experience with Berghof Foundation, SeeD, and Interpeace at the Cyprus Peace Negotiations in Geneva, Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and Transparency International Defense and Security programme.
Stratis holds a PhD in Sociology (2015), an MSc in Comparative and Cross-Cultural Research Methods (2010) and a BA in Sociology (2008) from the University of Sussex. He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His recent book Nationalism, Militarism and Masculinity in Post-conflict Cyprus was published in London and New York by Palgrave Macmillan. His forthcoming book will look at Agile Organisation Design for Security Sector institutions.
Paula Hill

I have over 30 years experience as a Metropolitan police officer primarily supervising and investigating serious crime on Sapphire and CAIT as both a DS and DC. For the last 3 years before my retirement in March 2022 I was responsible for the delivery of all Interview Training across the Met Police, whilst based at the Crime Academy at Hendon. During these 3 years my main role was the management of the Interview training team (and courses) and taught many training modules myself including PIP2 Interviewing and the Interview Assessment course for Supervisors.
I am experienced in both face-to-face & online training delivery (via Teams) and a qualified assessor at L3. Whilst at Hendon I conducted assessments of PIP2 interviews to develop and encourage new detectives which I would like to continue with. I also reviewed the new DHEP D interview material in terms of content and format prior to this being delivered at the HEI’s. My guidance included examining the proposals and discussions on how to obtain the highest level of student understanding. I also attended an HEI in 2021 and liaised with lecturers and students in order to assist with its ongoing deployment and effectiveness.
With my experience in modern police interviewing techniques I would like to continue to support new detectives in this area. I am keen to ensure officers are able to engage to the highest standards and any interview training they receive is correctly delivered and assessed appropriately.
Mike Cleary

Michael left policing as a Police Superintendent and Head of Specialist Training in Scotland. He holds a Diploma of Higher Education In Training and Development and a level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring. His responsibilities included Road Policing training, Driver training, Detective training, CT Training, Surveillance training, Community Safety training, and Intelligence analysis training. He had responsibility for negotiating and facilitating solutions across this diverse subject area - notably national policy in relation to driver training, quality assurance and strategic and tactical co-ordination and cross Government working.
Michael was specifically responsible for all Road Policing training in Scotland and police driver training standards across the UK. He was the lead author\subject matter expert responsible for the current police driver training programme in the UK including pursuit management techniques and emergency response. As part of this programme he established the competency-based system on which police driver training in the UK is assessed and introduced a quality assurance process to ensure consistency of delivery and assessment.
Michael is involved in training delivery for Police officers from China and the UAE and in the further development of Road Policing training for the College of Policing. He has experience of working collaboratively with corporate security professionals within the private sector, including those representing global companies particularly in the development of training solutions.
Michael also works for the College of Policing as an Associate Tutor where he has developed a number of learning standards in relation to the PEQF and the Police Constable degree programme not just in the road policing arena but across the curriculum and have been specifically responsible for Evidence Based Policing, Problem Solving Policing, Digital Policing.

Gary Ayton

Gary has a wealth of experience across the Metropolitan Police Service, Hertfordshire and Murder Investigation teams. Gary was a Detective in the Metropolitan Police Service, New Scotland Yard from 1983 to retirement in 2014. He investigated major and serious crimes including Homicide, Terrorism, Fraud and Serious Sexual offences. In his varied operational career, he developed particular expertise in Crime Scene Management and as a Specialist Trainer in investigative practice and investigative interviewing. Gary trained Detectives at the Crime Academy, Hendon, the MPS Detective Training establishment. Audiences ranged from Trainee Investigators to Senior Investigating Officers with subjects ranging from Investigative Interviewing to Crime Scene Management. Gary was appointed Exhibits Officer responsible for identification of British victims of the Asian Tsunami 2004 and Exhibits Officer responsible for Ante Mortem Identification procedures after the July 2005 London bombings and was present and assisted at one of the bombing scenes (Kings Cross Rail Station) soon after detonation of one of the devices.
From 2014 has designed and delivered bespoke training packages on a freelance consultancy basis to a wide variety of delegates. Courses include Crime Scene Management, Investigation, Train the Trainer and training design to investigators in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, China, Trinidad and Africa.
Martin Burbridge BEd

Having worked in the public sector for over 30 years, he has gained vast experience in communication and people skills. For the past 5 years he has been delivering training in a range of situations in this country and abroad. He brings experience in delivery and advanced knowledge of NLP and communication approaches.
Since gaining an honours degree in Education & Training and an NLP Master Practitioner Certificate he has been invited to deliver advanced communication skills to various groups both home and abroad including senior police officers, British forces schools in Cyprus and head teacher training for the National College of School Leadership. This included communication skills for head teachers, dealing with difficult people for fast track teachers, NLP selection board techniques for the Chief Inspector, Superintendent and Chief Superintendent Promotion process, and NLP commination skills workshop for the Metropolitan police diversity conference.
A trainer within the Metropolitan Police since 1997 and fulfilled various training and assessing roles both within the police service, and for other organisations in a freelance capacity. He has delivered the police recruit foundation course, probationer continuation training and various other police packages such as video interviewing (ABE), diversity courses and Home Office crime reduction.
Tony Gallaghan

I joined the police in 1986, served in various roles and ranks all across Northern Ireland through the next thirty-one very challenging years, and retired as a senior officer in 2017.
I specialised in Community Policing, with a particular emphasis on hard to reach communities, public order and events as an operational Silver Commander and assessor and trainer on Public Order Commander selection courses. I completed my service as Operations Superintendent, with responsibility for PSNI’s Coordination and Tasking Centre (N), Operational Planning, Crime Analysis, and reducing offenders’ units.
Since retiring I have worked as a consultant for Northern Ireland Co-operation Overseas (NICO) in Lebanon 2017-19 on an SSR project focussed on training officers and staff in Community Policing, the Communications Centre, and Analysis centre as well as delivering two new build stations. I have also been in demand as an advisor for police-based dramas – BBC’s Line of Duty 5 & 6, Bloodlands 1 and 2, Blue Lights (in production), C4 Comedy Derry Girls. In 2021 I worked as a consultant for Barclays UK on addressing online fraud and scams, providing advice and fronting media interviews.
Steve Clarke

Former Senior Officer in the Police Service of Northern Ireland with over 35 years criminal justice policing experience in investigation and community policing. As a Senior Investigating Officer in the Serious and Organised Crime Branch, he attained significant expertise and experience investigating international terrorism, organised crime and managing intelligence led policing operations. As Head of the District Criminal Investigation Department, he was a core member of the Senior Management Team with responsibility for developing and delivering criminal justice strategies as part of a wider policing plan set against agreed targets.
As a trainer and subject matter expert he has designed and delivered Senior Investigating Officer, Leadership and Criminal Investigation programs to various clients in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans. His teaching ethos ensures organisations and individuals positively develop and embrace constructive change. His train the trainer programs and coaching and mentoring delivery has brought about legacy structures whereby organisations and individuals are able to benefit through continuous professional improvement.

Martin Edwards

Martin Edwards is a qualified trainer and assessor who provides freelance and associate services. He has current extensive experience of training police officers on both the Certificate of Knowledge in Policing and Recruit Foundation course for the Metropolitan Police Service. He also provides assessment services for work-based assessment for police officers seeking promotion and is one of a few people able to train Dedicated Detention Officers.
Martin is a creative trainer who embraces inclusive practice. He consistently demonstrates a commitment to the delivery of service and training to the highest level of integrity, professionalism and personal responsibility, which resulted in the award of a Borough Commanders commendation. He is an effective communicator, able to build resilient interpersonal relationships in a diversity of settings. His training skills extend into the International policing arena, having represented the British Police Service at the Jordanian International Police Training Centre for 1 year.
Prior to this Martin had a successful 30-year career as a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Service, attaining the rank of Inspector. He holds outstanding organisational and leadership skills with an exceptional record of working well in high pressure environments. Martin was a hostage and crisis negotiator and has participated in the training of negotiators and conflict management. He has experience of Counter Terrorism, operational and community policing. He also has specialist knowledge of Police Custody Suites, having managed the strategic oversight and operational running of custody suites across a large London Borough.
Dr Ranjit Manghnani

Ranjit’s’ experience spans Merchant Navy officer, MoD Police, Essex Police and HMICFRS. He completed the Strategic Command Course (SCC) and joined the Police Staff College Bramshill, as an Assistant Chief Constable and an SCC Syndicate Director. A qualified Executive Coach and Mentor and Coaching Supervisor he holds Level A and Level B (Intermediate Plus) in occupational testing from The British Psychological Society, NLP Practitioner MBTI, WAVE, NEO, Hogan & Hays EI 360 licences.
He coached senior police officers and staff from Superintendents to Chief Constables and senior executives from private and public sector. Ranjit helped in the design and delivery of CoP led national Releasing Potential Programmes for talented BAME Chief Inspectors and Superintendents and now Professional Action Learning Sets (PALS).
He reads, writes and speaks fluent Hindi and has a working knowledge of Japanese. He has been awarded Masters in Education, Masters in Applied Criminology and a Doctorate in Change Management by Middlesex University

He has worked at cross government level with the Ministry of Defence, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Department for International Development, Home Office, NHS and the former Department for Energy and Climate Change as well as the non-departmental Stabilisation Unit. He is a life member of the Royal College of Defence Studies having attended this year long international course in 2005.
Rob retired from the Police Service in March 2014 having worked in various command roles at the rank of Chief Superintendent in his last 10 years of service. During his police service he was attached to the British Army’s Anti-Terrorist Training and Advisory Team (ATTAT) for two years, where he travelled the UK and Europe extensively to delivery counter terrorist training for the UK military and other policing agencies. He then took up various training and presentation related engagements. He has travelled extensively in Europe, USA, Middle East and Africa where he has delivered leadership and change management training modules as well as some niche security related topics which include the insider threat, information security and risk management.
Rob has maintained a strong training delivery background throughout his career and has delivered and facilitated leadership and security related training at a national level throughout the UK and overseas. More recently he has delivered online leadership and management training with senior leaders in Pakistan, China, NATO, Mongolia and Vietnam. He is currently engaged with London Policing College delivering their three year BSc in Professional Policing at the University of West London.
He is an EQ-I 2.0 & EQ360 Practitioner and holds an MBA (Open University) and a Masters in International Studies (Kings College London) and he is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He is also a qualified leadership coach and mentor and is a volunteer provider of mentoring for the Chartered Management Institute.

e is a highly experienced Police Officer with over 30 years policing experience. He served both in rural and urban policing locations, primarily in the Greater Belfast area. During his service he performed numerous roles including response, neighbourhood policing, anti-terrorist policing, and silver control, however he had a passion for training and development. He qualified as a Police Trainer in 1994 and became a District Trainer, training operational police officers of all ranks.
He transferred to the Northern Ireland Police College and became an Associate Lecturer with the University of Ulster delivering the Diploma Police Studies to Student Officers, for their role as Police Officers in an ever changing, post conflict Northern Ireland society. He also lectured on the LLM in Human Rights at the University of Ulster.
He transferred to Combined Operational Training in charge of three training locations, delivering Personal Safety Training. He conducted academic research on how to best deliver Personal Safety refresher training throughout the Police Service of Northern that was adopted as best practice.
Since retiring from the Police he has primarily worked in the Middle East. He’s developed and delivered training material to the Jordanian Police in the Syrian Refugee Affairs Directorate in community policing and recently developed and delivered online learning material for the Abu Dhabi Police.
He is a volunteer with his local National Autistics Society. He has a passion for training and development of others, to provide an impartial and inclusive Policing experience for all in today’s diverse society.

Brian Gouldon MSc

An experienced consultant and manager, with an international record of success in strategy development and implementation, organisational transformation, and learning & development in public, corporate and academic environments. He had a 27 years management and consulting career with the British Post Office and BT PLC, followed by leadership of a major multi-country project undertaken by PricewaterhouseCoopers US-based Public Sector practice. This project focused on changing the policy, regulatory and operating environments in the ICT sectors of 14 countries in southern Africa.
Experienced in the ICT sector at board/ministerial level in more than 30 countries across EMEA. In addition, he has acted as advisor to a public sector corruption inquiry in Nigeria, undertaken fraud investigations in the British Post Office, and advised on strategy in a wildlife conservation NGO. He has a track-record of international conference participation as a speaker and panel chairman.
For three years he was a Teaching Fellow at the University of Manchester, conducting post-graduate teaching and student support.
His policing experience is of local operations, in Inner London, and large-scale public events gained during 27 years in the Metropolitan Special Constabulary. He made arrests, gave evidence in Magistrates Courts, Crown and Coroners Courts, and The High Court, and for three years led a team tasked with educating women in crime prevention and self-defence. He has an MSc in Human Resource Development, from the University of Manchester and he is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (UK).
Mike Hurst MSc

Unique, experienced. professional in Policing and Information Technology having a first career in Data Processing and following a varied career as a Police Officer now working within Fraud and Cyber Security. Early experience included working within the UK and the Middle East in various roles and industries. Skilled in systems design and project manager. Varied operation and specialist Police experience including Murder Squads, Terrorist Investigations, and Secondment to the Home Office Immigration Service. Roles within Intelligence included Field Intelligence, Analytical, and the design, programming, implementation and running of bespoke IT systems within the Intelligence units. The training and development of staff within Intelligence units and other officers were a significant responsibility. Systems designed and implemented included one of the first crime mapping systems in the Metropolitan Police, in the North West London divisions, analytical work on Brent Borough for the ‘Safer Streets’ operation and whilst on secondment to the Immigration Service as lead Analyst, a multi user workload database with analytical outputs. The final role within the Metropolitan Police Service was in Economic Crime Prevention which included multi agency work at many levels with the business community, public sector organisations and parliamentary initiatives. The lead on Cyber Enabled Crime and Vulnerable adults, projects included Identity crime, money laundering, on line advertising fraud, insurance fraud and other issues. Currently working as an independent Fraud and Cybercrime consultant, advising businesses, presenting at conferences and training roles
Mark Irvine

Mark’s extensive international expertise in serious crime investigation, leadership and management has been built over a 30-year career in policing in Northern Ireland. As a Senior Investigating Officer, he led international investigations encompassing police and security forces from various countries. He understands the complexities involved in delivering global programs across different cultures, languages, and businesses. Since 2011 he has designed and managed a wide variety of facilitative investigative, leadership and management programs in various countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa . He works with both traditional and blended training programs. He has designed and taught on BSc degree leadership and management programs at Ulster University. He delivers highly interactive and adaptive workshops and delivers train the trainer courses. He has coached and mentored senior police officers and management in various countries around the world. He takes great care to ensure that people and teams have the opportunity to learn on the job and that they can relate the training to their own personal experiences
Bernie Kinsella

I am passionate about policing, having significant experience conducting complex, challenging investigations to the highest of standards. During my 30 year police career, I served in both the Metropolitan Police Service and Gloucestershire Constabulary, where I reached Detective Chief Superintendent, with substantial leadership and management experience and communication skills.
I was accredited to both PIP3 and PIP4 as a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO), which was the accumulation of a long and successful career in complex investigations into homicides, rapes, serious and organised crime and counter-terrorism. I was also a member of the NPCC Homicide Working Group for 4 years. I have experience in leading investigations into international criminality, including a serial killer investigation where I represented UK law enforcement at Interpol in Lyon. Since retiring from the police service, I have developed and enhanced my knowledge and experience within specialist investigations. I was the strategic advisor to the Officer Commanding of a specialist joint service police department investigating war crimes arising out of the conflict in Iraq in 2003/4. I have also been the author of 3 Serious Case Reviews following serious crimes committed by dangerous offenders.
I have good experience of police training in an international context, where on a number of occasions I have assisted in the delivery of a training course in France to French police officers engaged in operations with UK and American Law Enforcement, to familiarise them with UK policing operations and structures and English language in a law enforcement context.
Jonathan Jackson

Course Leader for BSc Professional Policing and MSc Policing & Intelligence Analysis at Birmingham City University. Previous roles within the university included Acting Deputy Head of Department for Sociology and Criminology and Course Leader for Criminology, Policing Investigation and Security Studies. Prior to this, I was course leader for BA (Hons) Public Sector Management and BTEC Level 3/2 Uniformed Public Services at York College, where I taught for four years.
Being involved in teaching and learning for ten years has seen me teach a variety of different levels of students from level 2-7, developing skills in classroom management as well as developing strategies and resources to ensure that different learners needs are met and ensure the best experience for students. In 2016, I was voted Runner-up in the Team of the Year for both the BLSS Dean's Awards and BCU Extra Mile awards. In 2016, 2017 and 2018 I was nominated for Lecturer of the Year and Personal Tutor of the Year again in both the BLSS Dean's Awards and the BCU Extra Mile Awards.
Having joined BCU in 2016, I have been promoted into further course management roles, leading and enhancing learning within the department strategically and have created and written new courses which have proved to be successful in achievement and retention.
Further, my role has meant involvement with several police forces around the country acting as a critical friend, researcher as well as volunteering with teams to improve my knowledge and understanding of policing and security.
